SKINVIVE™
Voluminous facial features and firm, smooth skin are essential components of a youthful, healthy, and attractive appearance. However, radiant skin also plays a crucial role in the perception of youth and beauty.
For years, there have been immensely popular, extensively researched, and highly trusted products available on the market that can restore lost volume, diminish wrinkles, and lift sagging skin. Yet, until now, there were no injectable solutions designed to hydrate the skin from within. Historically, skin quality improvement has relied on non-injectable, minimally invasive treatments such as facials, lasers, chemical peels, and other methods.”
As the field of aesthetic medicine advances, constantly introducing innovative methods to enhance individuals’ appearance and well-being, it has now embraced a novel FDA-approved injectable: SKINVIVE™.
If you’re seeking enhanced hydration to achieve smoother, radiant skin, SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® could be the ideal solution for you. Notably, SKINVIVE™ stands as the pioneer in its category, currently holding the distinction of being the sole product of its kind. At HerSpace MedSpa, we take pride in being among the early adopters of this state-of-the-art treatment, making it accessible to our patients.

What is SKINVIVE™?
SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is a hyaluronic acid (HA) microdroplet injectable gel FDA-approved for improving the smoothness of the skin in the cheeks.
According to Instyle, dermatologist Dr. Melanie Palm explains that SKINVIVE™ is “designed to improve skin smoothness and hydration of the cheek area, creating a radiant appearance that lasts for six months.”
What does SKINVIVE™ treat?
Clinical studies by Allergan Aesthetics found that SKINVIVE™ patients reported higher satisfaction with how hydrated, refreshed, and healthy their skin looked, along with the overall glow the treatment provided.
SKINVIVE™ is a newer type of dermal filler on the market. It is already highly favored as it creates the smoother appearance that Botox or Dysport achieves and targets an area that neuromodulators are not ideal for: the cheeks. Another bonus: it’s hydrating, not just smoothing.
How does SKINVIVE™ work?
Hyaluronic acid is a water-attracting molecule found in your skin, meaning it can draw and retain moisture and softness in your skin. Like proteins collagen and elastin, hyaluronic acid naturally decreases with age and sun exposure. SKINVIVE™ addresses the effects of decreased hyaluronic acid, such as texture changes and dullness.
If you look at the ingredients on your moisturizers, serums, creams, and exfoliants, you may notice many skin care products contain hyaluronic acid as an active ingredient. While applying it to the skin’s surface has some benefits, SKINVIVE™ takes it further by hydrating from within the skin.
By injecting hyaluronic acid beneath the surface, SKINVIVE™ helps the skin retain its natural moisture and smoothness and is more superficial than dermal fillers.
Dermatologist Dr. Amelia K. Hausauer told Harper’s BAZAAR the microdroplets SKINVIVE™ consists of are “tiny aliquots or ‘sprinklings’ of hyaluronic acid [delivered] into the top layers of the skin, intended to replenish hydration, improve light reflection, and smooth the canvas of the skin, without changing the structure of the face.”
When will I see my SKINVIVE™ results?
Some patients report noticing improvements in the skin on their cheeks within a few days after their SKINVIVE™ injections, but it can take up to one month to see the final results: smoother, more radiant skin texture.
How long does SKINVIVE™ last?
Patients typically see a lasting glow up to 6 months after their SKINVIVE™ treatment. Like any treatment, this period of enjoying results varies from patient to patient and can depend on skin type.
Am I a good candidate for SKINVIVE™?
If you notice dullness, fine lines, and wrinkles in your cheeks and want them to appear smoother, brighter, and more hydrated, you may be the perfect candidate for SKINVIVE™.
If your main goal is to change your facial contour, SKINVIVE™ is not your answer. This injectable is for hydration and won’t change the shape of your face as dramatically as volumizing fillers.
With age, the cheeks usually lose volume, creating a hollow appearance to the face. While most hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers simply reverse this and plump the skin, SKINVIVE™ sets itself apart as a hydrator, not a plumper.
Restoring a youthful contour alone does not address the quality of the skin, and the goal of SKINVIVE™ is to make the quality of the skin, often ignored with other treatments, more youthful-looking.
Are there any alternatives to SKINVIVE™?
SKINVIVE™ itself recently received FDA approval in May 2023 and is the first and only hydration-boosting injectable on the market to have done so. There are similar products in the pipeline to look out for, such as the Restylane Skinboosters Vital and Vital Light.
